"Not odd... just unique" was coined in this 2002 first version of the amazing website, Flying Penguin.

I got the idea to even DO "flying penguin" from one of my Tae Kwon Do instructors when I heard his email address: floatingtiger@whatever.com.

I thought, "Crouching tiger, ok. But tigers can't float! That'd be like saying, 'flying penguin' or something...!" Ta da!

This site was very, very basic (much like the first flying penguin)... but I had a guest-book that I was very proud of on it. I never got around to making another guest-book for my newer versions. Pooh.

Winter, 2004 and a bad case of 'cabin fever' prompted the creation of the first 'themed' layout and became a  beach-themed layout. and a bad case of 'cabin fever' prompted the creation of the first 'themed' layout and became a beach-themed layout.

Flying penguin of this version pioneered the look I used for many versions afterward -- the square flippers, double beak, yellow belly lining, and rounder features.

This website layout was done w/ frames (not a new thing for me at the time... I had done it first w/ my Rattie Rat Zone site), but lacked the flexibility I like in shared borders (for all you computer geeks out there who even know what I'm talking about)

After I adopted my great, big, wonderful, stinky, goofball Odie in 2005, I wanted to give him a site much like how I had given my pet rats one in the Rattie Rat Zone. But, about halfway through I lost steam and just let the art get buried and lost on my computer.

Looking back at it, I'm almost glad it never got published. The Flying Penguin site never would've been the same if it had been 'Flying Penguin and Odie'. Flying penguin just seemed to have less personality w/ a 'side kick'.

Late 2005 I began working on a new theme... Mission: Flying Penguin. Very cute and I still ADORE flying penguin w/ the beanie. It had a fun plot to run beside it too (this was the first time I experimented w/ a story line to go w/ the themes).

This one also fell through due to my 'Passion ADD' (you know, getting all fired up about it and then accidentally-on-purpose forgetting about it  'cause you got bored w/ it).

I still love the total randomness of this theme, though... and I might very well try to use it in a future layout. Keep an eye out for it!

"Techie" Aside from the heart-stopping spot malfunction, the show went beautifully and I saw first-hand how much better techies are than actors =P

After Beauty and the Beast, one of my friends (Kitti!) kept calling me 'Techie', and the name stuck. Why this rough-draft theme never became official was (honestly) because I could NOT get the face of flying penguin to look right. It either looked like a bald girl or a demented penguin, I couldn't combine my 'techiness' w/ flying penguin. So, the idea died... but the name still lives on.

Unidentified Flying Penguin. (More on this one when I get around to it)

I 'recycled' this version from my Myspace, 'cause I REALLY like it (I got the idea from the Wicked musical number, "Defying Gravity")!

Incase you haven't heard of the Broadway, Wicked, it is a musical about the untold story of the "Wicked" Witch of the West (from the classic novel The Wizard of Oz by Lyman Frank Baum). The cruel defaming and slander of others causes the misunderstood Witch (formerly known as 'Elphaba') to become wicked.

But before her tragic fall to wickedness and death, she sings a song called 'Defying Gravity'. It's about not accepting limits (just 'cause someone says they're so), refusing to go along w/ what the world thinks is best, and to Defy Gravity (how the world says things should be).
